Products submitted to the red dot design awards are assessed by an international jury consisting of renowned design experts. They examine and test the products and assess them according to criteria such as degree of innovation, functionality, ergonomics, longevity, ecological compatibility and clarity of function.
The TLKR T3 and T5 also received a bronze certificate at the International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) 2008, an annual event sponsored by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) and US publication, BusinessWeek. The IDEA programme is an international competition honouring design excellence in products, eco-design, interaction design, packaging, strategy, research and concepts.
Developed for active, outdoor users, the TLKR radio series is intended to provide effective personal two-way communication independent of any network or licence registration.
According to Paul Bermingham, Director Global DECT & CBC at Motorola’s Government & Public Safety division, the TLKR series brings back a sense of heritage by finding strength in Motorola’s previously successful product designs and is reinventing the current PMR446 marketplace.
“The TLKR T3 and T5 re-state the PMR446 category by combining new forms with an iconic gesture echoing the corporation’s legacy of two-way radio. Special care was taken to be EPP compliant and environmentally responsible throughout the design and manufacturing processes,” says Bermingham.
